Assam Tourism signed MoU with Times Group

• The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) signed a MoU with the Times Group for organising the 65th Filmfare Awards on February 15, 2020.
• This is the first time the main Filmfare awards show is being held outside Mumbai.
• The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Bennett Coleman and Company Limited managing director Vineet Jain.

Andhra Pradesh govt launched helpline

• Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched ‘14400’, a citizen helpline number.
• It will enable people to complain about corruption in government departments.
• Citizens could directly call the helpline and lodge a complaint against corruption in any government department.
• The Chief Minister made the first call on the occasion to the call centre and enquired about its functioning.

India to host naval drill Milan 2020

• The Indian Navy will host military drill ‘Milan 2020’ in March 2022 which will witness the participation of several countries.
• The drill will be held in Visakhapatnam.
• MILAN denotes Multilateral Naval Exercise.
• MILAN series of biennial exercises commenced in 1995.
• It was held at Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) for the first time.

Intel partnered with MediaTek

• In a bid to bring its new 5G modem to PCs, MediaTek is partnering with Intel.
• Dell and HP are expected to be among the first original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver laptops powered by Intel and MediaTek’s 5G solution.
• Through this partnership, Intel has been working with MediaTek on the 5G solution for deployment in key consumer and commercial laptop segments.

Bipin Rawat to be first Chief of Defence Staff

• General Bipin Rawat will end his tenure as the Army Chief in December 2019.
• He will take over as the first Chief of Defence Staff – a four star position being created as part of a defence management overhaul.
• He will get a term of 2 years as the CDS.
• He took over as the 27th Chief of Army Staff on 31 December 2016 after General Dalbir Singh retired..

Sumatran rhinoceros are extinct in Malaysia

• The Sumatran rhinoceros is now extinct in Malaysia.
• The country’s last female rhino, Iman, died of cancer recently.
• Iman was captured in March 2014 and was given the very best care and attention after the capture.
• Tam, Malaysia’s last male rhino, died in May 2019.
• Sumatran rhinoceros also known as Asian two-horned rhinoceros is the smallest rhinoceros

National Tribal Craft Mela 2019

• CM of Odisha Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the National Tribal Craft Mela – 2019 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha recently.
• The objective of the Mela is to preserve, promote and popularise traditional tribal art and craft and help the artisans to find better opportunities.
• More than 240 tribal artisans from 18 states including Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, etc. are participating in the Mela.

Railways set up Institute in Hyderabad

• The Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) has been set up in Hyderabad, Telangana.
• This new entity is set up to impart professional training in the management of railway finances.
• The project was conceived and constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) at a cost of Rs 85 crore.
• It marks an important addition to the list of premier professional institutions in India.

• Ashok Leyland Ltd. (ALL) has entered into a two­ year MoU with ICICI Bank.
• It will offer customised financial solutions to customers across India with a focus on semi­urban and rural geographies.
• The bank will work in close coordination with the authorised dealers of Ashok Leyland to provide financial solutions to the customers.

National Milk Day: 26 November

• National Milk Day is observed every year on 26 November.
• India is one of the largest milk-producing countries in the world.
• National Milk Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.
• Milk production in India has gone up from 137 million tonnes to 187 million tonnes and farmers have benefited immensely.

Devi Ahilya University gets A grade from NAAC

• The Indore-based Devi Ahilya University has become Madhya Pradesh’s first varsity to be accorded A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
• The Centre of higher learning is now entitled to several other facilities.
• It may introduce courses recognised by the University Grants Commission without its permission besides commencing open distance-learning courses.

UP to set up state’s 1st vulture conservation

• The Uttar Pradesh government will set up state’s first vulture conservation and breeding centre in Farenda area of Maharajganj district.
• It will be set up on the lines of Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre at Pinjore in Haryana, which is also the first in the country.
• There has been a sharp decline in the population of vultures from 40 million to 19,000 in a span of over three decades.

Seminar DEFCOM INDIA 2019 began in New Delhi

• A two-day seminar “DEFCOM INDIA 2019” is being held in New Delhi.
• The theme for it is “Communications: A Decisive Catalyst for Jointness”.
• The seminar began on 26 Nov 2019.
• It is devoted to the seminal theme of leveraging communications for achieving jointness between the three services.
• Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik inaugurated and addressed the event.

Mayank Agarwal made maiden entry in top 10

• Opener Mayank Agarwal made his maiden entry into the top 10 in the ICC Test rankings issued on 26 Nov 2019.
• Virat Kohli with 928 rating points, reduced the gap from 25 to three points with Australian Smith 931 to retain the second spot.
• Mayank jumped one place to 10th with 700 points.
• He is the fourth Indian batsmen in the top 10 list.

Indian archers clinched 3 bronze medals

• Indian archers bagged 3 bronze medals on 27 Nov 2019 and also ensured three silver medals, at the ongoing Asian Championship at Bangkok.
• The Indian archers are competing in the tournament as neutral athletes under the World Archery flag due to the suspension of the national federation, Archery Association of India.
• Atanu Das first clinched a bronze in the men’s recurve individual event.

ISRO launched satellite Cartosat-3

• ISRO launched India’s most sophisticated Earth observation satellite Cartosat-3 on 27 Nov 2019.
• The third generation, agile and advanced satellite was carried by PSLV-C47 along with 13 other nano-satellites belonging to a US firm.
• It was ignited from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Anti Tank Guided Missiles inducted in Army

• The Indian Army has inducted Israel made Anti Tank Guided Missiles Spike along the LoC in the northern command theatre in Jammu and Kashmir.
• It will strengthen defence along the border with Pakistan.
• Known as the “fire and forget” missiles, Spike are portable by men and are powerful enough to destroy tanks and bust bunkers within four kilometres.

• Suman Billa will join the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) at its headquarters in Madrid, Spain. He will take charge as Director, Technical Cooperation and Silk Road Development.
• Newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis resigned on 26 Nov 2019 after the resignation of Deputy CM and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, reducing the BJP-led government to a minority.

Transgender Persons Bill passed

• Parliament passed the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 on 26 Nov 2019.
• It defines a transgender person as one whose gender does not match the gender assigned at birth.
• It provides every transgender person a right to reside and be included in his household.
• The Bill prohibits discrimination against a transgender person including denial of service, etc.

National Institute of Design Bill passed

• Parliament has passed the National Institute of Design (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
• It seeks to amend the National Institute of Design Act, 2014, which declares the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad as an institution of national importance.
• It also seeks to declare 4 National Institutes of Design in Amaravati, Bhopal, Jorhat and Kurukshetra as institutions of national importance.
